In 2008 Tony van Raat, Dean of the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture(ScALA) in Auckland - New Zealand, invited some Italian counterparts to exhibit in a show titled: “The Search for Quality Urban Space in the Contemporary City: a Case Study of Prato, a medium-sized Italian City.” A number of public buildings were presented, for the most part schools, buildings and urban spaces created by the architects Marco Meozzi, Massimo Lastrucci, and Luca Piantini.

The exhibition was followed up by a series of conferences at the New Zealand Institute of Architecture on the primary role played by public buildings in the definition of quality urban space. Particular attention was devoted to the theme of sustainable growth and to the quality of urban planning.

The event came about because of the friendly relations between the two cities. There was even an exchange between the professional architects' orders as well as a series of events involving students and professors of the University of Auckland.

The event was documented in the magazine ARCHITETTURE NEW ZEALAND n. 3-2007 pp.102-103-104-106 Practice in Prato- Marco Meozzi- Massimo Lastrucci and modern humanism in Tuscany-Good Genes.
