Located in Prato's
immediate periphery, the
ancient Villa della
Sacca (owned by the
Istituto Cicognini
school) was abandoned
many years ago and has,
in part, collapsed. Our
project constituted a
study of technical
feasibility to reconvert
the building complex
into an experimental
contemporary art center;
the idea was to create a
new structure that could
flank the mission of the
Luigi Pecci Museum
(located on the opposite
side of town) which,
because of its limited
exhibition space,
required expansion.
Characterized by large
dimensions and
high-quality spaces,
the available area in
Villa della Sacca would
allow the realization of
specific outdoor
installations as well as
public reutilization of
the park .
